A word.....

Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life ~ Picasso

This photo as well as the poem was written and taken by my best friends father. He is a firm believer in embracing individuality as well as the passion for life. I have learned so much from his as to how approach the world with the love for all things.

Verbal Rays of Light

If I lose the light of the sun, I will write by candlelight, moonlight, no light. If I lose paper and ink, I will write in blood on forgotten walls. I will write always. I will capture nights all over the world and bring them to you.” – Henry Rollins

This song and these words place me in a contemplative state of mind that leaves my thoughts clear.I loved this song since the first day that I heard it, with each key I feel as though I'm sitting in a moving car watching the world around me pass by. Listening to each note I feel the sincerity of being engulfed in the moment. Each word of this quote embraces my passion and enjoyment from writing and how therapeutic it can be.I read this quote very slowly with this song playing in the background and the more I read it the more I felt the passion and determination behind the words that signify the undying will to capture and express the world around me with words of persistence and embracing each moment of breathe and life under the sun.

Soulfood 4 the Mind

"Love is patient. Love works. It is life's most powerful motivator and has far grater depth and meaning than most people realize. It always does what is best for others and can empower us to face the greatest problems. It changes our motivation for living. No relationship is successful without it"

Silent Steps...

A Labyrinth is a designed pattern that resembles a meditative maze. In class we went to the Labyrinth at Emory University and it was affected more by it then I thought I would be. When I began to walk into the maze I was not really sure what I wanted to gain from it. Before I began the maze I thought of weather I wanted to go in asking questions, answers, for forgiveness, or strength. Once I took my first step I immediately felt my mind open up to not ask but to receive.
At the time when I experienced this I was in a mental battle for strength to acknowledge and embrace all of the change that is about to happen in my life. In addition, I was also in the process if choreographing my first professional piece to be debuted in a concert and I was having trouble finding a title. As I took my first steps I kept repeating in a chanting sort of way in my head "strength for change, wisdom for change, & love for those who embrace change in my life". About half way though the maze, before I reached the center, I began to transition my thoughts to my piece and the content behind the movement. Immediately I thought about love, strength, and those who take it for granted. I began to hear myself say "Loving whole heartedly to those who do not understand and appreciate you can leave you empty." Once I got to the middle I just stood with my eyes clothes and empty thoughts and it felt like a moment of enlightenment hit me and I felt the words "Hole- Hearted"......And that was the moment that summed up all of my thoughts that left me full acceptance for the change that is yet to come and will challenge all the strength that I have.

"Chakra City" Do u Know yours?!!!

chakra meditation

Within our bodies there are focal points of energy that we use, whether consciously or unconsciously, to affect reality and allow us to fully experience and realize events that unfold before us. These focal points are called Chakras.

Chakras are located in important parts of your body such as your head or heart. Any organs within the area of these Chakras are used to control; and are, therefore, directly affected by the properties of that Chakra. There are seven Chakras located throughout the body, each with their own unique attributes and characteristics:

The Root Chakra is located directly at the base of the spine, also known as the coccyx. This Chakra is closely related to the body and our ability to master it. One’s health, constitution and security are linked to this Chakra. In addition, the realization of how our bodies connect to the material world is focused here.

The Naval Chakra is located in the lower abdomen. This Chakra is associated with the acts of giving and receiving, and is tied into the more physical feelings of love, passion and sexuality. The feeling of pleasure is also linked with this Chakra, so one may feel focus and feedback in this Chakra during moments of harmony, generosity, group creativity and selflessness.

Color: Orange
Gems: Amber, Coral

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located just above the navel and below the chest. This Chakra is a focus point for our force of will and our sense of transformation. Concentration and control of our personal energies originate from this point. One’s sense of power and authority, as well as self-control and discipline of the ego converge here. This Chakra can be used to sense the very use of one’s internal energies to affect what is outside the body.

Color: Yellow
Gems: Amber, Gold

The Heart Chakra is located at the center of the chest and is the focus for love and understanding. Feelings that stem from this love such as forgiveness, compassion, balance and harmony radiate from this point. This Chakra also nurtures the rarified feeling of unconditional or divine love, love that goes beyond the physical.

Color: Green
Gems: Emerald, Malachite

The Throat Chakra is located in the throat area between one’s chin and the top of the sternum. This Chakra is linked to one’s powers of communication. Through this Chakra, one can realize truth and knowledge; honesty, kindness and wisdom and how these elements can be conveyed through thoughtful speech.

Color: Sky Blue
Gems: Turquoise, Blue Topaz

The Brow Chakra is located in the forehead, right above our eyes. This is also known as the region of the "Third Eye" in Buddhist and other belief systems. This Chakra is related to our perception beyond the physical realm. Intuition, insight, imagination and clairvoyance can all be associated with this Chakra. One can also focus their realization of their own soul, divine wisdom and peace of mind in this point.

Color: Indigo
Gems: Lapiz Lazuli, Sapphire

The Crown Chakra is located at the very top of the head. As one might guess, this Chakra is associated directly with dealings of the mind and spirit. This Chakra is deeply tied to the exploration of one’s consciousness and place in space and time. Oneness with the universe, your spirit and will, inspiration, divine wisdom… all the things that deal with the Higher Self are rooted in this Chakra.

Notes from the Clouds

With each step of meditation it is important to analyze the best options for you to relax and feel vulnerable to the possibilities of contemplative thinking. I have always been a person very driven by music and the underlying stories each note can tell and began to try to meditate through relaxing music. This selection of music is an example of buddhist mediation music, specifically designed to help the body and mind relax in a calm state of mind. The main focus if buddhism is to set a self journey for enlightenment so that one can discover their internal connection to the world around them and how they can appreciate every moment and don't take the beauty of the world for granted. A buddhist quoted "Human kined is flawed. But, compassion towards all beings on earth is what will achive world peace. How can we expect the universe to love us if we don't love it? The universe is not greedy but is the best accountant, no debt shall go unpaid, weather for better of worse. love eachother and someday you will be granted enlightenment". What have you done to embrace your personal journey of enlightenment?
